10 people or less is not that many. I would recommend Flash it is a very simple program to use and it is on 99% of all pc's
Macromedia flash server if you are going to start going out to more and more people you may run into problems after about 50 or 60 at a time. I can get expensive after that. however going to ten people or less it is very inexpensive tool There are some other options of course there is windows media, Real audio (I would not recommend) as well as others. We have used Flash since the beginning of PrivateCamZ.com it is a great tool. There is a chat that comes with it and it very easy to use once it is set up. Both for the person sending the stream and the people watching it. It also makes you much more versatile with what you want to do with that stream, archive, and more. Please feel free to drop me a note anytime at dan@camz.com

That is interesting, Flash is about the last thing that I would have thought of.
What OS does Flash server run under? Is it something that you run from where the cams are located or something that runs over at your host and that the cam model logs into? Does this tie into a billing solution? He was using something from Real Systems, but do to costs and a few other issues no longer wants to use this. He still has a T1 running to his location, but is moving to Florida so will also have to get a new connection. |

does the distance from source (cam-person) to server,
or distance from cam-person to viewer, or number of people watching at any given minute have anything to do with the per minute COST to the webmaster to have such a program ?? does the surfer decide before starting to watch how many minutes they want to view - or do they just have their cc. on file and are charged the number of minutes they remain logged in ?? does the flash program you are referring to also have an internet audio voice (two-way) conversation type option... for surfers that want to talk with the cam-person as well as watch ?? does that double option change the operating cost to the webmaster ?? thanks... ~Bell |

On our PrivateCamZ.com site the entire interface is done on this flash server. They fund an account and then they are allowed to connect. It has an option for them to have one way audio video, two way audio video, and there is the sinulator toy option as well. It is so easy to use the surfer can send that audio and video at a click of a button using a lodgitec cam or whatever he has. That option is just one of the things that come with the program. It is a very versitile program. ( I sound like a rep for them LOL) We took a chance early on when they first came out some three or more years ago. We had looked at a lot of different programs and this one it the shit.

Did you do the Flash in house using your own people or did someone do it for you?
Also since you do feeds for paysites then tieing into a billing system would not have been an issue with you, but someone selling their own cam they will need a way to tie the software into their billing. Anyway it sounds interesting, would love to learn more. |

yes we have someone in house that did the flash design and then the programmer integrated the flash com server video and chat into the system and wrote the code for the affiliate program and the billing system.
It is integrated into Netbilling direct. You are more then welcome to take a look at the system it is a very good one. All of the Private one on one shows are archived and available to anyone as a payper view so the performer and affiliate continue to earn for the purchase of the clips that the system creates. That is the diversity of the system.

Small Testimony
I have viewed and witnessed Dan's premium software and would say that the software he uses is of high quality.
So if he is recommending a Flash setup over Windows Media or Real, then I would say that what he has done is awesome. If you are looking for streaming content to use and since Dan is here giving some tips, I would say he knows what he is talking about. Dan it probably would not be a good idea to give out my membership site addy but I will say what I have seen of the things you have done, it is solid and good luck to all of you. Nick

Flash = good
Windows Media or Real = bad No arguments from me at all, I like Flash, just really caught me by surprise. Hiring a programmer and Flash designer is probably not within the budget at this time, but it does sound like the way to go in the future. PS: I met the CamZ group in Vegas, great people. |

thanks
We do use windows media for our main Amateurcamz mainly because of the volume of people we are broadcasting to. We sometimes get 400 to 500 viewers watching those shows and Flash is not a good alternative at this time for us. If I get an unlimited license from them maybe That is not in my budget at the moment. Windows media is still the best quality to going to the masses. at least for live.

You always seem to forget things at my house, bits of computer stuff over here, pieces of clothing someplace else, keys, cellphones, shoes, the list goes on. It must be something in your diet when you are at my house. See you later luv… |
