Question Data transfer for a free site

Has anyone ever charted the transfer usage of a free site? Or the better question would be: Could someone please tell me what the approximate monthly transfer of a new free site would be when listed on one of the big link lists? I know there a lot of variables. Just throw a dart at a target and give me an idea. I'm not looking for science here. Hell, go ahead and lie. I wouldn't know!

When I get listed with a few of the big ones I'm burning 3-5 gigs more that month

There are a lot of variables to take into account.
The biggest 2 being size of banners, and size of pics.
Site 1 with 3 35k banners and 80k pics
Site 2 with 3 15k banners and 45k pics
Surfers will Not click on every picture. Especially if your thumbs are larger than 110 px. (I use 125)
Graphics nav links add to it too.

That being said, there are reasons to build a Site 1 with graphic nav links - just because it looks good, and sells.

Though I think Fonz has a pretty good estimate 3-5 gigs over a month, per free site.
Some may only burn 1 gig while others 8 or more.

Yeah that's a touch one really. Best bet is to grab a BW deal that allows you to upgrade at no charge anytime you need to.

Overall a free site should not burn more than a few gigs unless it is movies or heavy on graphics.

Thank you for your kind and informative replies. I've never delved into free sites, only AVS sites on the AVS's servers. It's nice to burn up someone else's dime and not worry too much about optimizing pics too heavily or using text links instead of graphics.

Thanks again.
