Do pictures still work?

Maybe it's just me and the fact that I am immune to porn now but do you think surfers still want to see pictures or just video? Personally, pictures do absolutely nothing for me. I don't think any picture in the world could stimulate me but then again I've looked at them daily for years.

What do you think? Are pictures enough anymore?

There's a surprising number of people still on dialup so there is certainly still a need for pictures. If you've ever watched a video on dialup, you'll know that you can't even watch them half the time because it's so slow and the quality is so bad.

For pretty much everyone else though, I think video is definitely more in demand.

Also, looking at ONE picture might not get you going, but how about a full SET of pictures? Just wondering what the performers sound like can be titillating enough for some.

I agree with you Ron. I just find that people cancel more on days when I put picture updates than when I put movie updates. It's odd.

Let me ask you this Jen.

Do you have a "Coming Soon" section?

If you show them in advance, so and so with X number of pictures or movies is coming up, it's very effective with retention.

And something a surprising number of people don't do.

Actually I don't. I'm always afraid they're gonna think the next chick coming up is ugly and say "fuck this" and cancel.

Well, cancelling IS better than a chargeback because she's ugly.

Secondly, I'd suggest having (if possible), a rotating section of "Coming Soon" models that contains anywhere from 5-10 models.

When one is added, the list moves up and you add another to the bottom of the list.

Chances are, they'll find someone on that list worth sticking around for.

Coming soon sections work very well. I use them on my paysite and it always helps renewals.

Back to the original topic. Yes pictures still work great.

I think pound for pound video still has more bang for the buck. And with the right settings on good compression software you should be able to produce a video that is clear and easily viewable by someone on a dial up modem. There is no reason why someone living in the backwoods somewhere shouldn't be able to see the great action people are putting in their videos, and moving pictures has always told it better then a picture.
Having said that, I do still believe that pictures can make a sale and satisfy a surfer if the picture(s) are well shot. Just a bunch of pictures in series won't do anything if they aren't well laid out with thought put into them. Make each picture count. Nothing, and I do mean nothing, is worse then bringing up a picture gallery and having to surf through 2-3 pages before ya see your first bare breast. You know, 15 pictures of some girl pulling the bottom of her shirt from her navel to her shoulders........ we have all seen those blatant attempts at increasing the picture count. But I think if there is a lot of thought into each picture taken that they still serve a very useful purpose.

if you work in 'real' fetishes they are happy enough to find one pic let alone video. So, yes it works for that type of surfer anyway.

Pictures still work well still do most picture content, but it is going to be soon fifty-fifty.
