To be fair I must point out that a "late picks" notification is posted every year on the main page of poolhost --
"11/06/2008
ATTENTION: Forgot to Pick?
If your pool includes Thursday games and you forgot to enter your picks, then CONTACT YOUR POOL ADMIN!"
I've always figured that was good enough notification.

I will change the wording of that part of the post, sure.

If he can do it in spite of the penalties he's incurred for missed games then I'd say he deserves it. I've always levied a penalty to those who miss early game deadlines but who still make the effort to get their picks in, as do other pools as I said. I realize people make mistakes, forget sometimes, slip up, don't read the board updates always, etc etc, so I try and accomodate where possible. Like I said, my main thing is trying to make this pool as fun as can be. Some think it's not fair they should miss out on an entire week because of one early game, while others think that's the way it should be, and still others think there should be no early games in the pool. Hard to please everyone, if not impossible, so I've set the rules for the pool a certain way and have stuck to that, always.

I'm sorry to hear that, I was hoping all concerned could have discussion about this without anyone getting too upset. After 4 years there was bound to be someone somewhere who raises an objection.
Again, up until now the topic hasn't come up. As always I try my best to keep things running smoothly and fairly, and I'm prepared to do what it takes to see that that happens. All along I've just gone with the thinking that if you miss the early game week deadline the onus is on the player to log into the pool and email the admin, the onus is not on myself to notify them to do so.
Would everyone prefer if there were no more early game weeks? I only hesitate in doing that because the idea is to have MORE football, not less
