My personal biggest income earner is a sponsor using recurring. BUT, if it was per signup I'd make more money monthly from them easily.
Go per signup any time you have a chance!
The only exception is their terms. Some won't pay persignup unless the surfer converts to monthly. Also, if the sponsor has no trial and pays $30/signup but the month charge is $39.99 then recurring might be an option as you'd be guaranteed $20 per sale anyway with a chance for the rebill.
