If your server is going to be down for an extended period of time you should email ALL the LL you submit to and let them know that your server is down and will be for a while or whatever. You shouldn't just notify the ones who use that blacklist.

Like Alex said, if the server is down there should be nothing, not a 404. I personally had 18 hours of downtime on a server with a few domains at a host I was "trying out" 4 months ago and I didn't really need to email anyone as my sites were coming up DNS so not a reason for blacklisting. I did however post it here as I know most of the bigger LL and the ones I submit to post here.

I of course dropped that try out host.

If your email is not blacklisted then you're fine but you will need to be a little more careful whether it is your fault or your hosts for the future.
