I doubt it's the console too. I have many sites that are ranking well on Y that have blur consoles on em.
I have noticed that highly competitive phrases, like "free porn" return very different looking results than less competitive phrases, so I guess it's possible that the algo (or whatever it is) that causes that difference could be sensitive to consoles.
Also, if you'll notice, the sites that are ranked for "free porn" are some pretty heavywieights and probably get a lot of links pointing to them. What that says about the recip-linking theory, I don't really know. How many sites that link to The Hun get a link back. I'm betting it's a pretty small percentage.
I've heard that Y is placing more weight on "on page" factors, like keyword density, than other SE's.
