It's not so much tricking them into looking at one's ad text as it is snapping them out of repetitive, quick gallery surfing.
If Enter /Exit and Gallery 1 / Gallery 2 are positioned about the same place on the pages then surfers can...well, surf while not thinking.
I came across a couple free sites in particular on LOR where I had to scroll maybe 200px down to enter.
When I enetered and didn't see the Gallery links straight away I scrolled down again 'cos that's what I had to do to enter.
I was in zombie mode just checkin' layouts of the free sites.
I scrolled down and there was a link, but ad text not the gallery links.
That snapped me out of zombie mode.
I scrolled up and
looked at the page content. I actually
looked at all the page content scanning for the gallery Links.
Granted- it was maybe 3 seconds at best before I found the Gallery links way up top.
But it did snap me out of surfer zombie mode.
We all block out ads that are typically placed.
When I saw that layout I just thought it was a really smart "snap 'em out of zombie mode strategy"
