2006 a 'crash' year ?

Saw quite a number of programs crash and burn, and quite a few "restructure" in 2005, and it almost seems that paysites are closing weekly. Is this going to continue in 2006 ... maybe even get worse? Or do you think things will consolidate and we will see less new programs but more quality?

I have been lucky so far in that I have only been caught by one single girl site closure and thats it ... but I know some guys who have been hit by upwards of 8-10 site closures .. many of them single girl sites for some reason.

You guys probably have your finger on the pulse more than any others so what do you all think? I can't imagine how many programs some of you promote, have any of you been caught out multiple times by sudden program closures aswell ?

I think there will be and more changes in the new year. There will be new programs as the industry continues to grow but more closures too I'm sure. Single sites are dangerous of course and offer more chances for income but also for site closures.

I guess I've been fortunate. I promote single girl sites almost exclusively, but have had only a couple of them close. Maybe that's because I tend to stay away from the "teen" end of the spectrum.

As a single girl, amateur site, we asked oursleves what will distinguish us from the millions of other single girl sites. The obvious answer was quality! Seems like every other girl/woman in the world has had the idea to do a site. The allure of fast easy money by the truck load seems inviting. Then the reality of greedy webmasters, tiny little checks, and working hard everyday becomes a job like any other and people quit!
I would say it easily takes 1-2 years of solid 9-5 work everyday including weekends to make a decent living at this as a single girl amateur.

Soooo many girls have no idea what it takes and have some webmaster guiding them, telling them, "just wait baby, the checks will get HUGE and you'll be stoked". A year or two goes by and the checks only got to a few hundred bucks for the model or at best a grand. All while the webmasters and all his affiliates made most of the dough.
Models quit, go back to stripping or being a soccer moms.

Very few models have what it takes to manage their site themselves. The ones that do have very succesful programs.
I hope the fast buck and break out trend with single girl sites stops. As a single girl site owner, I face ever increasing doubts from webmasters that would much rather just sell the mega, multi girl sites.
All the time lately, I meet a webmasters that want exclusive content, from a program that is not so saturated. We fit the bill perfectly, but I have to really persuade webmasters that we are in for the long haul.
Like every other business these days... There are a million wannabes, very few dedicated.

To answer that question, I think we will continue to see sites pop up and dissapear. It is not all one sided! I am hopeing that webmasters will start to look past the glittery pretty sites these people throw up and start finding real "partners" Seems like webmasters are just looking for content instead of long term partners. I think webmasters need to join less programs that really work for them, instead of joining every program and broadcasting every gallery people offer in a text link tgp, and hope for the best.

Adult evolves just like everything else. Programs will close, the best ones will still be around. People that open up programs that don't have a clue how much work it really is soon tire of it and let it go to hell and before you know it, it is gone.

Single girls sites, well, those always run a higher risk of closing simply because it relies on one individual.

Our program has been around since 2001, so we won't be going anywhere.

Actually you touched on something there.

I wonder how many people who start affiliate programs actually have what it takes to run their own business.

When I was still promoting other affiliate programs, I tended to stay away from sites focused on a single performer.

Having produced content for a while now, I know how many models dont show, move, change careers, etc. so I was alsways leary of a single person site.

If I like a model and think I am going to want to have multiple sets to update with, I have learned to get them all at the same time.

That being said, I have had some pretty god success doign free or avs sites focused on a specific performer and then using that to upsell to my paysites.

On the mainland that is true! NO DOUBT that is true. I certainly see enough fat tourists and stupid party animals here like that here too but....
The Hawaiian shirt replaces the suit and tie over here for a business man. (its so stupid) Instead of a suit jacket, people wear Hawaiian shirts and slacks.

But, its not until you meet the coolest, most laid back dude you have ever seen, kicking back on the beach, playing a ukulele, smoking a fatty, in a Hawaiian shirt that you can understand how it could be cool. Something about a hip guy wearing a flowered shirt, it's a Hawaii thing I guess.

hey LB....nice to see you in this neck of the woods (from the other "cough" "cough" place...hehe).

Anyways, I think every year there is something that is always changing. I would say the most critical of all is that to survive in "any" business, good business knowledge is the utmost key to success...or at least it'll give anyone a better chance of survival.

I do think though, that this year we will see many changes and gut feeling tells me to watch out for sponsors who will catch on to something (I won't say what it is here) that will affect how we all do our business. I beleive we will see more sites "as you say" crash. Single girl sites as it was mentioned I find are harder to be competitive and this is where knowledge of business comes in handy and anyone doing this solo will find its a lot of work.

Overall, it'll be interesting to see where 2006 takes us for the industry. My best advice for anyone: "Always have a contingency plan"
