It's no more yard work Saturday. Finally finished my tree project.

Just a day of work and taking Ibuprofen wile cooking Sweet and Spicy Chili Sin Carne (I seem to be out of canned unicorn meat) planned for today. Hoping that tomorrow the ocean will stay calm so that we can get out onto the water to do some snorkeling.

Good morning world

Cleo, your yard pics make me miss the first place I lived in Key West. Lots of trees and vegetation to constantly cut back and keep from taking over the house and yard. Then moved to a place on Little Torch with a yard "created" by people who were clueless about the Keys. It needed daily watering via underground system of irrigation pipes installed in the trucked-in soil to keep the purchased non-native landscaping alive.

Eventually had to hire someone to care for that yard. Now I'm in a house with nothing but a yard of loose river rock out front and a concrete back deck and dock on the canal. Not a blade of grass to mow, nor a tree or bush to trim anywhere.

Damn, that went long...too much coffee I guess.

A good weekend wished to all.

You should have seen my yard before two years of four hurricanes destroyed all my trees and put one of them through my roof.

After going through this I keep my yard free of stuff that can fall on the house but I do miss living in my private rain forest.

Morning all.

Simon, your yard sounds like ours. All we have is bare dirt in most of the front yard with weeds. 6 native mesquite trees with some native plants under them. We have put fine colored rock closer to the house in an area that looks nice, and two rail-road tie enclosed planter boxes by the front porch that the honeysuckle has taken over.

Backyard is weed cloth covered gravel for the biggest part.

But we have planted in the last week 2 small crab apple trees, and two white Hawthorne trees that I got free from arbour day foundation a year ago. In a few years, we will have some trees/shade in the back yard and fruit for the birds to eat. The Hawthornes were planted in the center of my garden area on either end, so eventually they will shade my plants, as I'm tired of cooked watermelons and sun scalded peppers if I plant out doors. My goal is eventually to train honeysuckle the entire length of my front fence, as I've seen this in other yards, and it makes a great living hedge that is beautiful year around and the hummingbirds love. So many plants to buy, so little extra money, lol.

Today indoor work is on the agenda, but tomorrow it is supposed to cool off, so more yard work tomorrow. Have a good one all.
