WordPress and Summary
does anyone know how to post articles with summary so they will be on !main page "summarised"
My pages weight 100k and more with 10 stories on it... in options-> reading there is only fields for syndication with it turned on I could only see post in categories summarised "[..]" but not on main page.. should I cut it myself in main template before output on main page? |

Sortlinks, I think the setting you want is in Options - Reading.
But I could be wrong, I like to use full text for my articles, so I haven't actually tried it. |

I know Bill..that what Ive tried first..
Finaly..upon my 20 min looking into php codes Ive font 2 ways to do it.. 1) If you put <!--more--> in the post while writing it - it goes (more...) after publish (use 'more' button) 2) if you need [...] on ALL already published posts on index (like in categories) you should replace the_content() in index.php template to the_excerpt() the you will see [...] after some ammount of lines... still digging to see why the hell default the_content('Read the rest of this entry »') dont work in my index template... these guys from wordpress 've done good job hidding usefull info ![]() I bet many dont know of it ![]() |

3) You can use "Post Teaser" plugin http://dev.wp-plugins.org/wiki/PostTeaser Basically it automatically puts in a --more---
Works well with "Less" http://www.thunderguy.com/semicolon/...rdpress-plugin.
