Apple and Movies

I need to cut some WMV movies that I got from a sponsor, to use on free sites. I've been looking for a program to do that, and I came up with Final Cut Express and Flip4Mac.

Is Flip4Mac Pro going to let me cut WMV files and save them so they are usable on free sites? What format should I save them in? I am kinda confused with all the formats used, mov, mpg, mp4 etc...

All help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also if you have some other software recommendations, please let me know. I am totally confused!
