need advice on buying traffic
Hey folks, I finally have a small amount of extra money, and for the first time since Ive been in the business I want to purchase some traffic. Ive NEVER done this, and am somewhat scared of losing the little money I will be able to invest. So I would like some help on where I should spend this money.
I have maybe 200$ to spend, which I know isnt much, but I know if I do it right I can turn that 200 into 400 if I buy from the right places. The only place I know for sure Im going to use my money is 50 at tommys for a submitter account. I would like to spread the rest out a bit, at 2-3 different places, and not put all my chickies in one basket. The main type of traffic I do NOT want is blind traffic, I know i can get a staggering amount of traffic for 50$ if i go the blind link tgp route where they just skim traffic to me, but I really dont think that would be productive. Ive been thinking about using googles ppc program, but would like to explore what other options there are as well. I dont know what is better, a ppc program or the other "50$ for 10,000 hits" type... I really need some help here! 200 dollars may not sound like much to most people here, but its alot of money to me. If anyone has ANY suggestions im open to them all! Thanks guys!

Traffic for what? Galleries? Or to your link list/free sites?

hmm
im still not to sure, i wanted to see what options i had first. I want to send traffic to my main site, porn-folder.com - but im not sure it would be worth it, for ppc traffic I would have a page set up for a particular sponsor, like a FPA except with about 10 pages, a few free galleries and such. an example would be http://www.porn-folder.com/met-art/ which is a fpa i made for met-art, thats not the sponsor i would use in particular, just an example.
but most likely, it will not be traffic for galleries, its been over a year since ive made a tgp gallery, and Im in no rush to make any more ![]()

If I only had 200 to spend I would definitely not spend it on traffic. The return is too short lived and nowhere near high enough.
Altho a tommys account might be a good investment. I don't consider that "buying traffic". I personally would buy and develop domains. The return is much higher, and it lasts. |

hmm
well, if i could spend 200 on traffic, and turn it into 300, and then spend 300 and turn it into 400 etc etc, how is it not worth it?
I do agree with buying more domains and the other things you mentioned, which i am going to be doing, but money has already been put aside for those things you mentioned and i have some left over for traffic.

Well, there's never a guarantee that you will make money on purchased traffic, and only an experienced buyer can feel fairly certain of a return.
If you have a target for the traffic that you are confident about, then that's somewhat different. But, as I understand it, you are just getting back in, so the chances of your having a reliable money making target are not so good. It's up to you. Ram says he's never lost money (sorry dude, I'm taking a bit of liberty here, I know you've lost, just not in general...). But I have. Now, I can afford to lose it, and losing 200 would be written off to the learning curve for me. If you have 200 that you can afford to lose, give it a try. But, there are other ways to spend that money that quarantee that you will not lose. |

I guess its been so long since I have started a domain from scratch, with 0 traffic that I dont know how to "develop" it, without investing in traffic for it if you see what I mean. I can of course make feeder sites, but like i mentioned above, even making and submitting free sites daily, i get a very minimal amount of traffic to my main site... Some input would be very much appreciated ![]()

Well, I mentioned developing domains because it's something I'm familiar with. But, there are other things. For instance, I always make money on buying content, and would consider 200 on content a guaranteed money maker.
With domains, as long as you don't just park the domain, it's hard not to make your money back, untill you reach the point where you have too many domains to manage. You have to get some pages up, some text written, use trusted sponsor links (don't put new untested sponsors on these pages), and link them up to get any type of search engine spiders to them, and they will almost always give you 400-800% return. Of course most pages will carry a link to your LL as well. There's quite a few different approaches to this. Just putting submitted freesites on new domains is usually enough to make them pay- that is, not only do you get the sales from the subbed freesites, but the increased activity on the domain attracts spiders, and the increased link popularity strengthens your main sites. (in this case, presumably you consider your LL your main moneymaking site.) It can get way more complicated than that, but that's the essence of it. Names are real estate, and by developing them you increase you footprint in the net. |

hi,
Not that I know what you should do with $200, but I think google adwords does not allow you to promote adult content (you might want to double check this, though) zanex |

Took the hint.

I would say that the money would best be spent getting partner accounts at places (provided you can handle the bandwidth demands that some might put on you). Example, the worldsex one is $100 per month, and I have more than recouped that already. If you have bandwidth to spare, that is a good way to go.

Thanks for the suggestions, I suppose I will try some submitter accounts, like worldsex and stay away from buying traffic for now. I didnt research the tgp accounts much because the few I saw were 1000$ or more, but I can hack spending 100 to submit, bandwidth is no problem at all, i have more then i know what to do with.
Alex, what would you suggest as far as signup types for tgp/worldsex? should i promote flat 30-35$ signups or use recurring sponsors? I know with free and avs sites i mostly go with recurring sponsors for long term cash, but I have heard that rebills with tgp traffic are fairly awful. And lastly, are there any other tgps like worldsex that have a small fee, 100 or less to submit? Thanks everyone, you may have saved me from losing my money ![]()

Bill
I have lost when buying spots but only when I bought a single listing that was $100 or more. Whenever I have bought a "block of spots" like 7 galleries or a month's worth I have not lost. For galleries I suggest the following: WorldSex for $90 DrBizzaro & GorrillaLinks are $30 for a month BangThumbs account is very good ($40 I think) |

I would get a partner account or paid spots on gallview.com, gallview is right up there on a lot of good searches on Google at the moment (check your niche first)... I haven't done it myself but I have noticed that gallview has been doing well in the SEs for a little while now.

Neticule, did I get the correct impression from you, that you were not talking about buying gallery spots, but were instead talking about buying traffic to your linklist, or something similar?
I was just curious- has anyone here ever bought traffic to their linklist and felt that it was a good use of their money? Now, it's common to buy traffic for a startup TGP, to begin to push the trades- that's a specialized skill, and a different subject than buying traffic to a linklist. (because of the automated trade systems used in TGP.) |
