Cool Big Rocket Go Now!

http://www.katvixen.com/Odds_and_Ends/shuttle_090906/

Atlantis and six astronauts safely reached orbit after a launch from Kennedy Space Center. The shuttle is on its way to the International Space Station on the first construction mission since 2002.

Went to see a live launch back in the 90's when we lived in Florida. Spectacular to see live. Just breathtaking.

Its called $, since this entire fiasco of "shuttles" was a complete failure proved by all the deaths and the fact that they are once more going back to rockets, its just like the Defense contractors making more and more $, who cares if it works or if its safe as long as they make more and more $ while trying to fix the failures they caused?

I did make one mistake, I forgot you can see the external rockets separate and I SHOULD have kept fallowing the shuttle taking pics as fast as I could, but I zoomed out and then we saw the separation and for about 1 sec you saw both tanks in pretty good detail so I missed a great shot.

Always next time, I think Nov is the next launch date.

Cool pics.... I always wanted to see a shuttle launch and was joking with emmy about driving down to see it just the other day.

Is that as close as your allowed to get or are you just lucky enough to live in that area and you see them launch all the time?

hmmm
Wonder if i paid nasa $10 if they would put an ad down the side of the shuttle for my site lmao either that or i'll have to send in some tshirts for the astronauts to wear in space. Could have a logo saying "Float your boat with blues porn"

We live 20 to 25 miles south from KSC, there is much closer places to see a launch from we just went to the beach 3 miles from us since it was so close and this was a last minute decision to go, I think there is area’s less then a mile to see it from but we have no desire to deal with the crowds.

Here are some more pics from the paper

http://www.floridatoday.com/apps/pbc...egory=news0201

And the official KSC site with all sorts of cool things that you can spend lots of money on.
