Question What would LLs like to be done better?

Evening All,

Saw the thread from Alphawolf about the numbers and reasons for submissions getting canned and wondered:

In general, what would Link List owners/reviewers like to see submitters do better, either in how they submit or in their site builds? (ignoring the no autosubmitters, read the bloody rules type reasons!)

Improper recips are a bane on my existence, as well as people submitting to the wrong category or just being too lazy to choose a category. All in all, I'd like some submitters to realize that changing a background color does not mean it's a new template and write me real descriptions of the content

Just my 2 cents.

Oddly enough, I think reading the rules & double checking your work are the 2 main things.

I'd bet most people submit to the wrong category. They make a site based on a teen in hardcore sex with a guy and submit it to teens. It goes in Hardcore, NOT teen. I personally do not decline for that but it is getting real real real annoying.

I decline mostly for these reasons:
Banners that look like thumbs or thumbs leading to a sponsor
Blurry overcompressed images
Missing images
Sponsor content

I've noticed that a high percentage of my submits are sponsor content and are using vidcaps.

Sponsor content? Ok. But pick some clear photos at least.

Don't use the same illiterate title and description for every site!

NickNames in a title field, wrong category and mature sites. There is no mature category at my LL.

I've never understood why more linklists don't seperate teen into softcore and hardcore. Putting a teen hardcore site in a regular hardcore cat is a waste of a submission, the markets are very different, and in general the hardcore cats are low traffic cats.

While there is a distinct and solid market and traffic for teen hardcore.

As a submitter I'm always glad to see that a linklist has a category for "teen sex" as opposed to "nude teens"- it's a far more profitable distinction.

What DD said.
Compress and shrink your images. There's no use for them being 1600 wide and 250k big.

Templates - rotate your templates.
Moving the gallery links to the top of the HPA on the main page instead of on the side is not a whole different template, in my opinion.

Content - has people stopped buying content?
Seeing the same sponsor content over and over gets pretty boring after a while. Don't you think the surfer think so too?

This is not really a problem for the LL but more for the submitter. Some need to step back for a second and think about what they are doing and why they are doing this.
Am I selling porn or just tossing porn pics out on the Internet and hoping some schmuck with too much money will spend money after they click on my banner.
At the end of each month, do some research. What templates and what ads has worked well? Ok these 5 worked well and the rest were crap. Keep those 5 and make 10 new ones. Next month, repeat.

My 2 cent

Opps - double caught me - LOL
My TGP doesn't make a distinction either, and on the other hand I submit a lot of "Teen Hardcore" and am glad when I find a suitable category for it... How thoughtless of me! Once I'll get enough submissions to fill both I will rectify - GRIN

Why would a surfer see the same content over unless they are moochers, too young to have a credit card or have no intentions of buying a mebership to any site...including the one's the LL owner promotes.

If someone is horny, has a credit card and is just looking for that right site to buy- there is no way they will go though all the links in a category to the point of seeing a repeated set.

OTHO, if I were 16 I'd be looking at every new site that came out.

Read the fucking rules.

Surf the site and make sure everything works.

Check you site in more then one browser.

Don't submit the same niche to me every day.

I also put hardcore teen stuff in teen, not hardcore. Splitting my teen into softcore and hardcore is on my list of additional sub niches I intend to add soon after I get caught up from the home remolding project.

Bill, good one.
Honestly I will put the odd site in Teen if it is Lightspeed teens kissing rather than lesbian and the same with the odd hardcore teen if it is a model site. However I am mostly talking about Teens4Cash that will convert in either category and rarely has a "real" teen in the pics anyway.

I've done the same for amateurs more and more lately too. And Shemale movies I usually leave in Shemales rather than in Videos. Same with a lot of mature video sites.

eman
So true! Stop with the same site title every friggin day.

Niche recips are annoying enough as it is... I think seperating nude teens and hardcore teens is a good idea, but not if it would require sorting through more of those god awful niche recip links.

I can understand that they are important because of the direction SE algorhythms are moving, but it still makes me feel like banging my head against the wall

I guess you wouldn't like traffic that is even more targeted to your sites then?

The biggest improvement that I'd like to see is more people buying content for their sites so they can submit something different than everyone else. I reject a lot of sites every day because someone else submitted the exact same content within the past week, or because the sponsor galleries are just crap. I'm a lot more likely to be generous with minor rules infractions if you're submitting something I haven't seen before because your content adds value to the list. If it's the same tired old sponsor galleries I've seen 100 times, it has no value to the list.

What really gets on my nerves is when some one sends me a link and I in good faith click it and it starts installing software - in one instance it trashed my machine

No, im not saying that

I can understand the importance of niche recips from a LL owners point of view because of SEO and the direction search engines are heading.

But from a submitters point of view, I dont think it's all that hard for a surfer to click a general recip, then choose the catagory.
But of course not as many surfers would click on general recip links, so I guess it's just something i'll have to learn to deal with, haha.
