I was wondering how many of you work in an office and how many from home? For those who've done both in adult, which do you prefer?
What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages of working in an office evironment are?

I work from home. The biggest problem I hear about working from home is too many distractions. I don't find that to be an issue. However, the traffic jam each morning at the coffee maker is biatch.

Yeah I would think the distractions from kids or even the TV would make it hard to work from home. I sure would save alot of money on gas though lol.

I used to work in the office until last week, but from Monday I work at home, and certanly I prefer the last option: no trafic, no fuel spend...In my home I'm on my own during the day, exept for my 2 month little dog (that is why I actually have to stay at home, to care about him)

I have worked from home since the beginning. Except for about 6 months when I rented a large office with a conference room, file room, kitchen and 3 offices. The problem was it was, I almost never went

I think it depends on what type of personality you have regarding organization and how much you can tune out everything else. If your desk is in chaos at the brick & mortar office, if you like to chit chat and it takes you 30 minutes of getting coffee, putzing around, giving the hellos to all your co-workers on what they did "last night" then chances are you'll have a harder transition to working from home.
Ideally to have a workable home office in a part of your house that you can close off to everyone else, as if you were going "in" to the office. But with proper communication to your family as in "this is how our bills get paid" and routine, telecommuting is a very viable solution. Another good thing when working from home is to allocate time banks for certain tasks. 30 minutes of email, then 30 minutes of working, then 30 minutes of whatever it is that you do. This gives you specific times to get things done without having to look at 8-10 hours in front of your computer. There is good collaborative software as well that you can work with other team members virtually, work on the same documents, upload presentations, have whiteboard meetings complete with webcam so that you'd never have to have a 'real office' ever. When I lived in Seattle I telecommuted 2 days per week and here in Vegas my house is the 'branch' office for 2 publications in the UK, a remote location for a video production company in Portland and the 'human resouces dept' for ChopsCash. ![]() |

I like Surfn work in an office, which happens to be in my home! I wouldn't have it any other way. I get dressed when and if I want, work when I want can't beat that! All my kids are adults and know what I do, so distractions are not a problem, most of the time!

Another home office here
![]() Easy commute and much better coffee ![]() The distractions can be an issue at times, but that's also part of the upside to working from home. The important thing is to be able to shut out the distractions when needed. And it sure is nice to be able to take care of 'home stuff' during the work day. Then make up for it in the late evening or even wee hours of the morning when necessary. I'll take a home office anyday ![]() |

There are just as many distractions in an office as there are at home.
The real issue is discipline and motivation. If you have these then the distractions are a non-issue. If you don't then it makes no difference where you work. I have a home office and, a 2 year old and a beautiful wife. Most of the time I leave the door open so that I can be distracted by my little girl, which is a nice little break in the day. If I'm a in crunch I shut the door and that means I love you but I need to focus right now. When I worked in an office I had people stopping by my desk all the time as well. The morning was spent talking and drinking coffee and when I was in a crunch I would shut the door. |

I have done both, but not in the adult industry. I think everyone here has hit the nail on the head with everything. I perfer home and a non-traditional work schedule. When working from home, if I do'n't get something done it's nice to know I can stay up till 3am to do it if I want to and take breaks when i want to.

I work at an office from 9-5, also for an adult company. And at home from 6-12. If I had a choice (which I have I know) I'd work at home from 9am - 12 am

I work from home. The 3 second commute from my bedroom across the hall to my office is great.

I actually find it less distracting to work from home. I do however have a seperate office at home and the household functions dont bother me at all .

Home for me in the basement. Since I changed the room redoing the floor and moved all my daughter's toys and crap up to her room it works much better now.
I definitely wouldn't change it yet of course there are always distractions still now and then. But working from home means you have the flexibility to go to lunch anytime, go golfing or whatever and still work at night if you want to. |

I work from an office with many other wonderful people.

Home office and a bedroom. Me, my brother, and our cousin share a fairly large house in the country. I' have an extra room where I intended to create a full-fleged office but so far its a desk, a desktop, and a few boxes neatly leaning against the wall.
Three or four weeks ago I purchased a new laptop with WiFi. My office is now my bedroom a lot of the time. Once I get a anti-glare filter for the laptop's screen my office will be moving outside in the sun =) I'm 24 and never bothered getting a car. A lot of people comment my reluctance to drive is an envious quirk since the price of petrol has climbed to such rediclious prices. I hope to home office it for a while. Maybe someday I'll buy an office building and fill it full of people. Until then its me, my laptop, and anywhere in the house that's quiet =)

![]() Nataliya and I have we have things laid out pretty well. When I close the office door that's it. I am not to be bothered because I'm putting food on the table. When the door's open I can be interrupted by walk by chats but "Hey come here" always brings the response of the door closing. I spent 15 years working in an office and the walk by chats were common place so this is no difference. Well, I much prefer my 2 year old interrupting me then some office dip shit but that's about it. |

You can't keep blaming yourself. Just blame yourself once, and move on

I work from home. I find that discipline can be a problem...especially on a nice day when I wanna go outside but have too much to do inside.

I been thinking about getting a real office
Last month I needed a new computer so I got a laptop the thing is what if I rent a office and find it really boring and I got a really sweet office at the house, going from this office to a draby white box isnt really appeling I would get something close, less then a 10 min drive so traffic isn't a issue i would need another car
