to GG, DD and all other LLs owners
Sorry to bother again with this subject but need to have it perfectly clear in my mind.
If I understood it right, it's better to use sub-folders than second degree domains - right? I mean , ie: www.bert.com/blonde/nude/index.htm www.bert.com/blondes/naked/index.htm are better than blonde.www.bert.com/nude/index.htm blondes.www.bert.com/naked/index.htm Am I right? Did I miss something? This is important to me since, while looking for paid hosts, I see references to "unlimited sub-domains / pointers" which I think means "second degree", but very little on the sub-folders. I did see one host that specificly says - "no multiple sites" - and this is not good, since I need to build loads of free sites, as said in the tutorials I've seen. Anyway, hope you can understand my question, for I am a bit confused myself, and give me some good advice. Thanks in advance Bert |

Hi everybody
Got this reply from the paid host am considering, about how to make multiple sites: "You actually can have any number of "real" sites under your main site and put them into subfolders. However, I'm not sure what the links sites will think about that. It's better to add the sites via sub-domains. The number of sub-domains is not limited and will work for you much better." According to what you said so far, they are WRONG! Sites in sub-folders is the way to go. Please let me know your comments and promise won't bother you again with this. Thanks in avance Bert |

Listing to the link list owners not some hosting company.
Use sub folders not sub domains. |

Does this host by any chance charge you for setting up sub-domains? a monthly fee per sub-domain?
Don't ask me for advise on your server set up - don't ask your host for advice on free sites ![]() |

What is wrong with sub-domains?
I don’t really use sub-domains but I am curious as to why some people are against them.
The SE’s do not seem to mind them at all and even seem credit them as a unique domain. Also in that example I think they would look more like this www.bert.com/blonde/nude/index.htm www.bert.com/blondes/naked/index.htm vs. blonde.bert.com/nude/index.htm blondes.bert.com/naked/index.htm without the www Once you create them either URL will access the same directory. Thus you can please all parties but this also dilutes the pages PR. I just remembered a domain that submits to my LL the domain is "hiddenserver.com" they have created the subdomain "my" so it appears as "my.hiddenserver.com" which I thought was a clever use of a subdomain.

But if you keep everything in sub-folders, nothing will be changed or forgotten if you do a server-server move. Just my 2 cents ![]() |
