Want to give TGP traffic a try. Help me make sites that convert!

I feel I have a very good understanding of making free sites that convert.

However, I have no clue what makes a good gallery on a TGP.

I also know who the heavy hitters on LL's are, but no clue on TGP's except the hun.

All I know is that TGP can be a BW burner unless I do things quite well.

I'd like to covert the free sites I have into galleries.

I think (?) I want to avoid the larger all inclusive TGP's and try to go with niche TGP's. I'm just thinking the sales:bandwidth ratio would be better there.

But- I'm pretty clueless on TGP in general.

Maybe a good start would be to ask what the most common MISTAKES are when people 1st try making sales off TGP traffic?

Good content is key. Niche sites are a good idea. Who you promote is key. Look at the TGP and see if the owner is promoting them. If they are, do not. You might not get listed and if you do it will be below his galleries and ads. 2 links to the sponsor only. Big thumbs, 150 or so tall at least. 2257 disclaimer on the bottom and url address (not linked). 3 recips per gallery only. OnMouseOver is not a good idea but ok on most sites.

One thing that is a huge waste of time on galleries is huge graphics. Make you galleries load quick and vary the layout of the thumbs.

TGP conversions are more of an art than anything else.

Thanks guys. I'll surf some TGP's and see what galleries get my interest as a 'surfer'.

I'll search around various boards for any past advice as well.

Sell the content in the gallery, but try to keep the pics together where possible. At least 15 pics with the big pics ideally in the 40-60k range. If using banners, integrate them with some text.

15 pics can be a little thin: some sites are requiring 16 (but I make some gals with 15 - about 10% in my submission list want 16).
big pics ideally in the 40-60k range - are you mad? - Ooops - sorry!
But really: 60k is way too big for TGPs in my point of view. I try to get most images between 30-45k, best is all around the mid to high 30 (depends on content and how well it compresses).
Under 30k several script set-ups tend to reject galleries (carefull with close-ups, which might be on same compression below 30!), but I get quite a number of galleries submitted with images of 25-30k and most are fine. As for size: I make my images are usually around 720-750 pixels the long side = just under 800, well over 640, so I'm well above the minimum requirement for most sites.

40k-60k covers all options. Several sites like at least 40k, most notably Pichunter which makes up a significant part of my traffic.

Hmm - strange... I have a Pichunter pwd and get decent traffic from them, but lot's of my galleries are around 36-42k/image... deffinitely mostly under 40k...

That's not an easy thing to do but let's say it's a good thing to do if You are doing it right. You'll learn most of common mistakes in 2-3 months if You work hard

I can appreciate that, Garou.

I got what I consider very good advice from kristian.

I think in order to get good returns on TGP you need to put some bucks and time into it...and still do things as smart as possible.

Go for niche Tgps I personaly stay away from the general ones. Stay above 20 k for your images as long as they look good kepp them between 20 and 40k. Compression shouldnt be a problem untill it looks shit.

that rating defines how many galleries You are allowed to submit and how long/high they will be listed.
If You submitted for a long time and Your galleries were fine then You should contact 3xlinks and ask for a higher rating. They have a BBS so that You could do that.
