How can I detect a hitbot making trouble for my tgp?

Was checking my stats..clicks are thru the roof!!! 16,374 from no referrer in the past 24 hours..1,922 outs to trades in the same time frame..
This is not usual for my little tgp..maybe 1K uniques a day..
so what can I do to see wtf is going on?? checked server stats and yesterday got 2700 hits from one ip..
any ideas? should I add that ip to my deny from list in htaccess?

I'm not an htaccess pro but ya you have a problem there.

Could be a hitbot or someone trying to hotlink you.

Does your current htaccess point to your tgp page? If so change that to a 404 page with a link to the tgp page as that is not a good thing to do. In essence you are img src'ing yourself if your htaccess redirects to the tgp page.

have you checked the IP to see if it goes to a site? I'm not really an expert but I guess if the IP belongs to a site, then you're being hotlinked, maybe in a forum or something. And if you get a 404, then it could be a person's system, which would indicate a clickbot is being used for some reason. Either way, ban the IP.
