This brings up another question, if you just have a plain rss link or default rss link, are most surfers smart enough to know how to add it to their reader, or do that need the link geared to their reader to add the feed(s)?

Most readers are actually pretty simple to add feeds to and yes most people who actually use them are smart enough to add them....with the exception of the MyYahoo, MyMSN, Google (whatever it's called) crowd. but the chicklets act as a good visual reminder more than an actual shortcut. I've been thinking seriously about pulling my little chicklet farm myself, with the exception of the SE buttons mentioned above, and just making a big note on my sidebar to remind people to add the feed.
