Aw, Dad, you've done a lot of great things, but you're a very old man, and old people are useless

How do I capture exit traffic?

So like a total noob I have learned the hard way about leak free tours.

I have always generated mobile traffic for my mobile sites with PPC, which is generally much higher quality in the mobile world than in the Web traffic world. And I have always populated my purchase pages with banners for other sites that I sell. I've also included a text link for a free softcore site, on the theory that surfers who don't want to join my paysites will have a place to go where I can monetize them in other ways, banners, etc. I always figured why not make some money on the back-end from surfers who don't buy. This has all seemed to work OK for me.

Well, in the last few months I have begun a beta affiliate program and signed up a few initial mobile traffic affiliates. $25 PPS or 50/50 rev share. And guess what, one of the first guys to start sending me significant signups freaked the fuck out about the banners and links on my purchase pages. I have now had a thorough lesson in "leak-free" tours. And as I'm sure all of you here know, I've been an idiot all this time. Turns out my shit converts WAAY better without the other links.

So this is all good. Lessons learned, better product. Buuut... now I wonder what happens to all those surfers who don't buy? Do they disappear into thin air? Do they all hit their back buttons and go back where they came from? It seems like such a waste not to capture some value from them. Soooo... how does this work? What do others do, if anything, about this? Hoe do you capture exit traffic if you run leak free tours?
