Yes, just go to Presentation > Widgets > create a Text widget and paste your banner code in the text widget. Don't forget to drag your Text widget to the left/right sidebar.

or change the top right corner image of a theme with a square banner the same size?

That one depends on the template you have chosen. Which template did you pick?

You know most link lists aren't going to list you because your using a free blog hosting service.

Don't worry about this one, your blog is going to be listed at 30 PR4-5 matured blog directories without any problems ( http://www.adultblogresource.com/submitter/ ) . And about 50 more are accepting thumblogger/sensualwriter blogs, just search the support forum for those.
