Thumbs down FCC wants free (filtered) broadband service

So give everybody free broadband internet, and they will filter it. Not to mention owning all the information that will be stored.

I had a similar post a few months back about the Canadian government supplying internet access and possibly filtering it.

For what? We asked. "To protect children," came the reply.|confused|
The Federal Communications Commission is looking for a bidder to provide free broadband service.... Half the United States population must be able to access it after four years, and 95% by the time the license comes up for renewal.

There will be one more requirement for the service. A spokesperson for the Commission has told Ars that the FCC wants it to include "content filters."

I wonder if you don't use the government internet will you be placed on a special list.
