I dropped mine off our loft wall about 20 or so feet and just smashed the screen to hell. I was able to pick up a new one on ebay for like 150 bucks. From dell it was 300. From the looks of it I would bet the drive is still ok, you would be surprised how much a laptop drive and take in the lines of abuse. Go to a computer store and purchase an external case. Bring the drive in and show them. Most cases can be hooked up via usb and you can retreive all the data for around 30 bucks. But man that totally sucks, looks like a truck ran it over.

I'll give that a try. I'm no good with hardware or I'd consider doing something on my own. Gives me an excuse to escape this little backwater hole for a day at least.
