I saw this exact same thing on a show called MythBusters. They did an experiement trying to blow one up with a high speed CDROM, didnt work for them, but when they attached the CD to either a dremel or a router (wood router, with like cutting bits) it exploded big time. With enough force to penetrate a human body to a depth of like 2 inches!!! Aint ya glad CDROMs have that metal case? Interesting side note here, CDs look very cool after they have been in a microwave for a few seconds!
Did it do any damage to any other components inside the machine?
