That is too bad. Sounds like her family is bad news. I hope it works out but if it does not then there is nothing more you can do but move on. If you move there and don't want to chances are high that it will not last anyway and end real bad.

Does sound like those kids are one helluva drain...and should be old enough now to take care of themselves. If I were in your boots, I'd probably try to find some compromise. If finances allow...do both...get your place in Mexico...and a place near the kids. When the time feels right...head off to Mexico...come back when you're rejuvenated.

If finances don't allow both...well I'm probably selfish. But I've reached a point in life where I'd have to look out for my own dreams. In a REAL emergency, there are airports and flights to anywhere. In a "I fucked up again" situation...sorry kid, grow up and be an adult.

Believe me, my mother wasn't crazy about me moving 3k miles away from her...but she understood and respected the decision. I fly back to see her every year for her birthday and talk to her on the phone a couple times a month.
