When someone says "Cheers" as a thank you I don't think any response is required. Maybe a "No problem" at a push, or more recently a "No worries", but usually it's a final statement of thanks that requires no reply.

Yep, I'd say the same thing about the response to "cheers". I also find myself using "cheers" more and more in place of "thankyou".

Have to disagree with the Eastenders quote though

I have my Sunday organised with military precision... work in the morning, record Eastenders omnibus in the afternoon... exercise bike then soak in bath while it's recording... make full Sunday lunch with yorkshires etc... settle down with food to watch Eastenders

Anyway, I'm up in Newcastle... the only other UK webmasters I know of are down south like you guys.
