Rule #1 my recip must be with the big boys?

Part of that is people being worried about their recip being listed with 5 recips that go to the submitter's various hubs.

I don't care if you link to one of your hubs, but I did throw in the "established link lists" rule to encourage people to submit to other established sites & not just link to their own hubs.

(please note that I said hubs & not link lists - I would not hold it against Cleo if she put her recip next to mine on a free site that she built)

Yeah, I get that rule. But LOR sent me alot of surfers when I was picking the recips randomly (and so did porn movie links). So you put yourself at the top of the list not because you demanded it but because you deserved to be there. I dont know who the big LL's are, or the medium and small ones. I just have my traffic stats to go by.

Again, it's my opinion that if someone is going to decline a site based the fact that they are not listed with high traffic linklists or require those linklists to have a certain number of backlinks, well then I'd probably just pull them off my submit list.

I completely agree

It's ludicrous to insist on being listed with specific sites

The best advice I can give is to experiment and be flexible. Bend your own set of business rules if you think it's worth it, but always be prepared to make changes if you need to. If you think you are getting declined due to unreasonable demands then don't submit there.

When I started submitting freesites an established link list (that had been listing my sites already) simply asked me to put their recip in a "better" place, so I did. It was definately worth making the change.
Would I have done it for a less established link list? Probably, because it's not always about the traffic, it's about building relationships and trust, and supporting people who have been helpful to you.
