usually , he doesn't because it's an impulse product, he looks at the preview trailer, a few preview images - then he either joins for moves on to another site that better suits he needs

also depends on how savvy the surfer his.

the big problem is what the surfer is used to.
when he opens his account on YouTube he can get the content any time with no date expirations , not like the monthly memberships on paid sites - so he doesn't need to download.
or he can download the video - there are many tools for that and firefox plugins etc.
if the surfer also knows how download via p2p than you bet he can expect to get quality content to his hard disk if he so easily got low quality content for free on his hard disk.
