Aside from the newer, mainland-style, houses built down here more recently, the traditional, older, Keys houses don't have central a/c or heat. We have ceiling fans in most rooms and a/c units in the rooms we actually want to cool on the hottest days of summer. In winter we just pull the cold-weather clothes out and go around looking like we're trying to survive a blizzard. Yesterday I was sitting at my desk wearing a wool hat, gloves and scarf to keep warm enough to work. When it gets too cold we close off some rooms and then we cook and bake to warm the kitchen enough to warm the rest of the place. The Keys is a strange place if you live here, and if you live here you're strange. That suits me fine.
