I'm not sure that increasing your font size is what he intended by being less passive. Spend a little more time on designing your galleries so that the thumbs and ad blocks are more interwoven. Right now, your layout is ad block row, content row, ad block content row, and so on. Your ads are too easy to skip. Plus, add more text. Surfers may not read it, but it will make their eyes pause longer on your ads.
