Any proof, or just a theory? It is simply hard to believe for me...

Well, of course you're free to believe whatever you like, and to ignore the warning I posted.
But you may want to read the results from a search like
Gmail scans emails and notice some references even mention how "...email that non-subscribers choose to send to Gmail accounts is scanned by Gmail as well, even though those senders never agreed to Gmail's terms of service or privacy policy."
Then look at Google's webmaster guidelines regarding what they call
link schemes and how buying and selling links that pass Page Rank can negatively impact a site's ranking.
Then you can decide for yourself whether you think it's absolutely safe and nothing at all to worry about since they're certainly only using the information they gather to help them target advertising and offer suggestions based on knowing which social networks you belong to.
I mean, with their ability to create algorithms like the hard-hitting Panda and Penguin updates, there's no reason to think they'd have anything running on their servers that allow them to notice when someone offers to buy or sell links in an email.
Right?
