So if Google is working on cleaning their serps I wouldn't be worried that you will get listed less.

I agree Konsul... and think recent updates have been more about pushing Googles own capacity limits, instead of focussing on providing surfers the best results. I think google still believes that keeping their users happy is important though.. so expect this "mess" of an update is just a means to that end.

And unless they have made another quantum leap in their distributed processing system, it's hard to believe they can maintain an index this big.... ©2004 Google - Searching 8,058,044,651 web pages .... when it "looked" like they had been struggling with half that number not long ago.

i have a suspension thats this is part of a reason why i droped some SERP's in last update
Bummer Leon It can drive you nuts trying to decide what went wrong when multiple things fuckup at once!!

You have a quality site.. And you probably know this.. but I hope a few newer people notice what Bill and GG said in this thread... they don't over-analyse the SERPs.. or even react to them much.. If a webmaster follows any pattern too much (even if it's SE perfection) you are going to degrade your results over time.. best to make your main site the best it can be content wise... and put your "SEO" efforts into building a support network of sites around it using a range of different strategies.

By "suspension" do you mean your server was offline? If you had your site redirected to a host "account suspended" page, you can pretty much bank on the fact that it has caused you some issue with google results... much more than those 13,000 pages would imho (if that's the issue, it will reverse after 1 full round of fresh/deep spidering again though)

National-Net cut off the server We Love Free Porn is on for about 12 hours in August... (over a $21 oustanding invoice.. which was an error caused by their dim witted accounts woman) ...

Have a look at this graph.. hard to ever be certain about a cause when it comes to SERP changes.. but my experience leaves me 80-90% sure this particular "glitch" was purely due to the Host's actions.
