100% uptime is attainable. It is just very expensive. Most people only strive for 5 9s anyhow, 99.999%, which allows about 5 minutes of downtime per year.


Put another way, a 99.9% uptime guarantee gives a company 525 minutes/year of unplanned outages.

However, the outage appears to be more than just servage.net, so, there are probably many many hands running around to fix it.

If everyone jumped hosts every time they were down for a couple hours, you'd be moving all your info 3 or 4 times a year
