The first aminated cartoons I remember were seen at the movies - "Tom and Jerry", "Woody Woodpecker", and "Mr. McGoo."

Mississippi did not get a TV station until 1953 and it was a uhf channel and could not reach but a few miles outside of Jackson. In 1954, we got our first TV. Captain Kangroo came on that year but the first tv program I saw was Howdy Doody.

Not a cartoon, but Muffin The Mule is one of my earliest memories. That and Andy Pandy, The Flowerpot Men and The Wooden Tops.

Most of the above, plus another - not a cartoon, but Romper Room.

Miss Lois said Happy Birthday to me in her Magic Mirror.

My brother used to be a hair dresser (not gay) and used to do her hair.

What a cool childhood memory.

Damn, you got the theme song in my head now...so I return your theme song sticking moment with this show Banana Splits and here's the Theme song:

One banana, two banana, three banana, four
Four bananas make a bunch and so do many more.
Over hill and highway the banana buggies go
Coming on to bring you the Banana Splits Show

I remember a lot of those cartoons, but what really sticks in my head is non-cartoons: The original Batman series; Kookla, Fran, & Ollie; Romper Room; Zoom; and The Electric Company.

I'm still a huge fan of Rocky and Bullwinkle to this day

The Electric Company. You know, I still to this day get that song stuck in my head. "We're gonna turn you on. We're gonna bring you the power." |twinkle

The Magic Garden was funny with the chuckle patch and that pink squirrel in the tree
Someone I know is related to one of the girls that was on the show. I went to her house and they had the whole tape collection, so I just had to ask where they got the tapes - lol!

I remember a 3 hour kid variety show called Wonderama when I was a tiny kid. I watched it every Saturday morning.

Oh yes, Wonderama. Kids are people too, hehe. I used to call it by that name because of that song they'd always sing.
