Redirecting, 404, Oh, The Confusion

nah, I think the consensus is:

If you're going to redirect galleries, redirect them to a page that basically isn't a traffic pump. Give the surfer the chance to go back to the original site rather than just 'take' the traffic. Its a two-way street out there.

I read it somewhere this morning, but, cannot find the reference. Of course, I could be wrong.
