Dreamweaver is bad at leaving old links on a page, happens to me all the time...
You can eliminate 99.9% of that by checking the DW status bar when you select something visible in WYSIWYG mode to make sure you're selecting the specific tag(s) in the code that you wish to move/delete/modify.
