Yes it will increase your click through. The reason some Lists do not allow them is (as usual) some webmasters abused this type of building by adding tons of crap.

I don't mind a small text link to the sponsor on the full pic html page. The reason I say small is because if I don't then someone submitting to me might think they have license to write 5 paragraphs of linked text above or around the pic.
