I'm sure there are a shit load of people who own that same truck and now are very very pissed. I don't blame them.

I doubt if you have to remove the pan to change the oil, just the plug. You should only have to remove it to replace it or the gasket. But, seeing as Jim said that the pan tends to rust out, it does sound like a nice racket at 1500 a pop.
