So, this guy shows up last night

The guy was a civil engineer wanting permission to enter my property at my old house. Most people know that I got rid of the house but am keep the land. Which, by the way is landlocked and my neighbors wanted to buy. It's about 57 acres. They have this plan to divert the creek and put spikes in the creek bed to stop the ice that collects in town and every year floods. So, we look at the maps and the guy says, "Oh my god, you own all the land we plan on building the spike device and flooding". So I ask, what's next??? He tells me to get my logger to write a statement as how much the logging would be worth over the next 100 years and that will be the price the state pays me for the land. Since I made about $55k from 10 acres and the land can be logged every 15 years, I wonder how much my logger will come up with Quick calculations tells me that it would be worth well over $1 million. But, that has got to be a pipe dream But it's a good one while it lasts. They have to pay me for it but...who the hell how much? He told me the rules of eminent domain is I can turn down the first offer but must take the second. They are taking my land for sure...and, I could be very rich from this new deal

I truthfully think that my neighbors all knew about this and that would be the reason they all wanted to buy it. I am just glad I held on to it.

This happened to me with some land that I owned in California. The state bought it from me so that they could flood it in order to desalt the surrounding land. The state paid me well for it but I never really understood how they were desalting the land around it by flooding this land but it did make the value of my other land that is nearby worth more and I even got a good wheat crop off it this year.

I am supposed to get the drawings of the device today or tomorrow and I will post them. The way they are doing it is ripping apart my hill and digging a new stream that will remain empty until the ice jam gets stuck in the main creek. Then the water is supposed to divert through the new stream bed and also flood the land.

As a kid, I remember blasting with dynamite by the bridge in town from the same creek. It does flood the village every year and I guess this is their best solution.

And I guess I am just lucky that they decided to use my land for it They also said they may have to take the house and land that I no longer own.

All I know is that I have a whole lot of wheat this year which also means I will soon have a lot lot of sheep grazing on the remaining wheat cuttings. Kind of strange that I seem to kill anything that I personally try to grow and don't even seem to be able to keep sod alive yet I'm somehow a sudo farming gal.

Funny, the guy just showed up again to get permission to drill some more holes. He also wanted me to donate any artifacts they find. I told him no and he said he didn't blame me. Not that there is much of a chance of them finding artifacts by drilling a 2 in wide hole.

My wife is pissed because of all the wildlife that will be gone. But, what can you do??? You really can't fight eminent domain. Not that I would want to anyway
