Cheers guys, that solves that little mystery
![]() So, next question: sooner or later I'm planning to put a "fake" link list on the root of one of my domains to act as a hub. At first it will just have links to sponsor galleries and my own freesites, but eventually I intend to throw it open for submissions. Now, I've been working around the idea of using subdomains for each category, with the main index on the domain root. Is this going to be a problem for my future plans? Am I going to have difficulty exchanging category links with other lists if the cats are on subdomains? Or are these concerns aimed primarily at freesites? Rob. |

You can now put whatever you want in this space :)

RobUK, I don't run LLs but I'd think when it comes time for you to do cat trades with other LL owners, you'll run into a brick wall because I'd imagine most of them would prefer not to linktrade with subdomains.

Where there's a will, I want to be in it.

Also, if you need to change hosts, subdomains can be a pain to move. Unless there's a really good reason to use em, just go with folders.

Arghhhh...submit yer sites ya ruddy swabs!

All the downsides posted here are right on...sub-domains will cause you more problems than benefits.
Using folders is a much easier way to go and you won't have any problems with listings or trades at a later day. |
