Hosting it yourself (along with frequent posts) sends the message to other webmasters (potential trades) that you're serious, and won't have to worry about the freehost's rules and deletion. I still alot of sites doing trades with blogs on free blog hosting services though, so must not be to important. Or as said, maybe it's the SEO thing.
