Let assume that the PR the toolbar shows you is correct...(which it may not be)

Cleo is right in that your root index is the page that most incoming links come to.. so it will be "ranked" higher than the internal pages.

Look at the back links to that page and the toolbar will show you the higher ranked pages linking to it. (the rule used to be pages or PR > or = to 4)

This does NOT show every back(incoming) link!

Well, I thought that maybe google would send you more hits if you have high PR.

NOT a correct assumption. PR is only part of what Google uses to return search results.

Page content, keywords, word density, incoming links, linked text etc etc are just some of the other things Google uses to 'calculate' its results.

Cleo, I believe any domain can be deep spidered as long as Googlebot is aware of it..
I do not believe it is based on PR. How often Googlebot returns to the page to re-spider it may be.


Either way the premise for better search results remains the same.

Gain more relevant incoming links
Use spicific keyword and anchor text in those incoming links
Use and dont over-use appropriate keywords within your pages.
