I know from previous threads that htaccess doesn't work with wmv files but does work with mpg files.
Trouble with Fusker is it sends no referral info most of the time so unless you have no referral blocked you are left wide open to it. That would be this line in the htaccess. RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^$ This allows no referral. Removing this line stops site rippers, Fusker, and being able to bookmark a pic or mpg. It seems it also stops Windows uses using WMP from being able to view the movies since I guess IE+WMP sends no referral information. Quote:

I'm pretty sure there's not much you can do...htaccess is limited when it comes to movies files, etc.
Off the top of my head you could try a little reverse htaccess thinking. I'm not sure how practical this is, but you could upload movies to a seperate directory and block everyone from downloading, then create an accepted list of domains. If you submit to 50 LL, you add their names, plus all the major search engines. I don't think this is a practical solution to the problem though. brb, let me ask this geek that works for me what he thinks can be done. |
