What happened to the Xpics guys anyway? They were paying like there was no tomorrow, and suddenly there was none. The program disappeared, and I never heard what actually happened. Xpics should be included in any book covering the early & happy wild west days of the internet.

Ahh, to answer my own question, this is a great article from 1998 on the downfall of Xpics. A great read if you ask me.
http://www.wired.com/news/culture/0,1284,15901,00.html XXXcash also claims to have started in 1996, so I guess that is the year quite a few sites got started. Try to find a site that started in 1995, and we should have a winner.

If I recall from the LA papers, I beleive some local DA's took up the cause for many-a-surfer who were getting the raw end of the deal.......the bad old days of porn billing......I dont recall the exact details but I am positive about it being Xpics, DAs, and surfers in the story |
