domain name roots - SE ?uestion

Will SE's pick up pages that have shorter roots and list them better and more quickly?

i.e.

http://www.mysite.com/

vs.

http://www.mysite.com/folder/

vs.

http://www.mysite.com/folder/folder

More quickly, no. Better? Possibly.

The speed with which a page is listed has most to do with the number of links pointing to the page, and with google, the PR of those links. High PR pages are spidered more often, therefore the pages get entered into the database more quickly. There are some complicated things that happen after that, so that a page can appear in the listings, then disappear, then reappear again. This is nothing to worry about, SE is a long term game.

"better" listings are the result of a lot of factors working together. Index pages often seem to be favored, but recently in google index pages may have been devalued. (altho I can't say I've seen clear signs of that myself)

Some SE people swear by keeping pages tucked in as close to the root as possible.
