I finally got spamarrest

Well folks, as much as I hate to admit it, the spammers who really hate me have won. No matter how good the filter, no matter how well I trap them out, I was still getting hundreds of pieces of mail per day to deal with that were total shit.

I cannot believe how many ways you can misspell cialis and viagra.

I don't need a watch.

Ebay security isn't trying to contactme.

I don't have a wife, so she didn't get a vibrator for christmas.

I don't want a pill that can sure any disease.

I don't need anything from a Canadian pharmacy, I am in canada you morons.

Anyway, as a result, 100% of my mail accounts are now flowing through spamarrest, so if you mail me, don't be shocked if you get a request to confirm. I have imported some names, but others I have forgotten or were not on file will have to be verified. It only takes a second, and will keep me from having to deal with this overwhelming fucking wave of bullshit coming into my mail every hour of every day.

As a side note, I have often wondered if the spam removal people don't in fact hire spammers to add to the tide. "target all .ca addresses, 100 spams per day!".

Anyway, sorry if this is an incovenience for anyone, I don't intend it to be.

Personally I hate the mails that say I need to go to a web page to verify and be added to the person's good list and usually don't.

I've never really understood what Chris (cd34) did with his host but when I switched to his host my spam dropped by around 90%. What little I still get the built-in spam filter of my mail client catches so I don't even see that. Even before switching hosts the built-in spam filter of my mail client caught just about all the spam so it ha never really been a problem with me.

Cleo, I am running a test right now... with the filters I have in place myself, I normally have under 1000 emails left per day that are spam (my ISP mail gets killed with spam, being the single largest ISP in Canada). Before filters, I don't want to even guess, but I will see based on how many end up in the unverified pile.

I got really tired of looking for the one good email in the 100 pieces of shit incoming, and that really frustrated the heck out of me.

At the start of the year I had NatNet turn off almost all of the email accounts I had with them, as well as all the "trickle down" stuff I had from different domains I own. That was a huge contributor to spam, and I got rid of that and most of the bullshit commercial "get your site listed in google" shit disappeared.

After 30 days, if this sucks too much, I will remove it - but so far I am sure not complaining too much

I love spam arrest. I was going in and pre-approving people I write, so they don't have to bother with accepthing themselves, but now I use their smtp to send mail and that is automatic. It has caught over 1 million peices of spam for me in the past year. I did a test and turned it off, since I was up for renew, and even with all the filters I put in place on my mail program, I was still dealing with 1,000's of email a day, I don't have time for that! I made the mistake of putting my email address on a LOT of sites I built for years, so I think my email has been harvested by every spambot on the planet, lol.

What I get a big kick out of is going to check all the stuff that got trapped in the unverified pile. There is so much crap out there!
