NOAA Hurricane Prediction (not s sports thread)

(CNN) -- The North Atlantic Ocean could see 10 hurricanes form this year and four to six of them become major storms, the National Hurricane Center announced Monday.

NOAA predicts 13 to 16 named storms, with eight to 10 becoming hurricanes. Four to six could reach Category 3 strength or higher.

So, not quite the worst parts of the bible, but it could get nasty this year again.

I'm about as ready as I can be.

Spent thousands on trimming back my foliage and topping all of my trees.

Upgraded all my windstorm and homeowners to replacement value and added flood insurance too.

I would like to get a second generator and second portable A/C plus add storm shutters over my double wide garage door but all this will probably have to wait for next year's terror.

Going into this season with 18 days of fuel for the generator.

Cleo, 18 days is a pretty good pile to start with - the trick being that after about 4 or 5 days you need to start looking for more fuel... because it might take you a week to get it

Seriously, I hope this hurricane season is better than the last ones, and I am also hoping that all the previous destruction will limit this years damage because there is just less to break.

It was pretty easy to get gas down here after about 10 days and this year some gas stations will be running on generators so the fuel situation should be better. But I figure being over prepared is better then being under prepared.

I have thought about getting a few more of those 55 gallon drums to put non potable water in for flushing toilets and things like that but I am going into this season with 50+ gallons of bottled drinking water. Last year I had enough water for drinking but ended up filling buckets up with water from the woman's pool across the street for flushing toilets as we lost our water for 3 days.

Publix supermarkets are trying real hard to have all their stores running on generators this year and Home Depot was running on generators last year. Publix is the largest food stores down here.

I just hope I don't loose both my cable modem and backup adsl and be left with no internet connection.

Did anyone notice that the first big storm will be named "Alberto" after the Attorney General that keeps funneling money away from protecting children to go after consenting adults.
