Are gambling sites non-adult?
Seems a kinda stupid question as obviously you need to be over 18 to use online casinos, so the question relates to exit links. I've just picked up some poker domains and want to kick start some backlinks to them, so plan on using exit links on freesites pointing to them. Is non-adult for exit links non-porn or quite literally not for the und*r 18s?
I'm guessing it's ok as with any online purchase you need to be 18 to hold that beautiful CC, but figured I'd make sure. And I know it will count as a sponsor link, no problem with that ![]() |

Myself I always figured they were adult for the reasons you stated about being 18 and all to gamble.
Interested to hear what others say.

Yeah I guess I should re-word it and clear up what I mean:
Penis pills and the like I reject and would not put as the exit link as it's a sex-related thing and minors seeing an erection etc. is the reason I'd reject. Gambling sites as an exit I wouldn't reject for, as there's nothing there to hurt a minors eyes. Any exit link is geared towards selling something, be it cigarettes or whatever, and it's extremely unlikely that you might link to a ki**ies store in the hope that a k*d might click the exit to get away from your porn site they somehow found, saw something they liked, and persuaded an adult to break out the CC and buy something (obviouly if used as a linkiback thing that that scenario doesn't apply whatsoever). So in the sense of it being a non-porn site, or one that doesn't show genitals, does it count as an 'adult site'? In fact it would be far easier to just say this: Can I link to my poker site from my exit links? ![]() There. Much easier. |

i do know gambling sites dont like to be on a porn site and other way around, you may not link porn from a site you made with gambling, now i do know some dont mind, best to know is to ask your gambling sponsor, i have on stuveltjes porn index a link to a poker site, i didnt ask because i cant sell them

Yeah I get what ya mean about the exit link being geared towards selling and all, but I thought it was always for a legitimate means to someone underage to exit and if you could profit of that so much the better. So it just seems a little off for me to have them exit to another adult thing even though its not nudity.
Really I dont have a problem linking to a casino or poker site but just commenting on the theory behind the exit link. This is probably one of those things where everyone has a different interpretation and its a very individual thing to say if its ok or not. I dont even use exit links, I just think this is an interesting topic. So Ill just be quiet now ![]()

the reason I never linked exit link to anything than SearchEngines - it's more harm than good in the end:
- reviewer don't like this, you won't get a link-back, won't get traffic and will lose a sale. - even if you get your freesite with such link approved, the productivity of 'exit traffic' is next to nothing. it's all about the balance, and here risk just doesn't worth it.

Arghhhh...submit yer sites ya ruddy swabs!

To answer your question directly Jel, yup I do consider gambling to be adult links. If the destination is of an adult nature...it's an adult link. While it's not porn, gambling is definitely adult in nature.
In the truest sense of the purpose of the exit link, it should go to something completely non-adult. I get submissions with dating sites as an exit, using the logic of well there's no 'porn'...those would fall into the same category as gambling. Have also been getting submissions with exit links going to mainstream ads still hosted on the adult domain. That's still adult as far as I'm concerned. Frankly, it's kind of a slippery slope...so I default to the more rigid because I know if I give an inch...there are those that will take a mile. IF one is going to have an exit link at all, it must be completely non adult. Either to an SE (wasted link), or to mp3's...or maybe games...or even their own non-adult domain with mainstream ads. Geez, I'm getting to be such a hardass ![]() |

Personally I would go with your own non-adult domain with mainstream ads. This is something I started to do and it was by accident. The short of it is: Created mainstream site, sent PPC traffic, found out keywords cost 40 cents to a dollar a click, lost money. So I stopped. About 2 weeks later I realized that if I had to pay that much per keyword so did others. Pulled almost all my mainstream ads from site, signed up with google adsense, added to exit links and I now have a site that makes money. How much? Averaging just a buck a day. Not going to make me rich, but I look at it as $10 for domain, roughly $300 in earnings for the year if it stays the same. This would = 300% return. ![]() Plus this can grow as I keep submitting freesites. I actually spent 1 hour on this site today which is the first time in 4 months. Which reminds me I have not loaded it yet. Gotta get back to work hope this helps. |

I'm a little late on this one, but I'd like to add my 2 cents:
I do consider all of those things adult: gambling, dating, and cigarettes. It's an exit link - I go by the CYA theory. If a kid does get on your site, at least the exit would go to something they are allowed to see/buy/use. Just another one of those quirky things that will differ with each LL owner. |

Thanks for the opinions all, I don't currently use exit links at all, for the reasons mentioned - only people who click on them are nosy surfers rather than anyone who is actually going to buy anything. I used to use an MP3 sponsor, and after something like 15k uniques with no sales decided to pull the exit and use the link as an extra one to the freesites primary sponsor.
Was more of a case of getting some linkbacks up and running than thinking I'd actually make sales directly from the exit link, but so far looks like it's considered adult in nature so that's gonna have to be done from other sources. Thanks again to everyone for their input ![]() |
