The hardest thing to do as an adult webmaster optimizing for Google is to build natural links - Google is starting to ignore hardlink trades / reciprocals to an extent after BiG Daddy.

One of the reasons blogs do well in Google is they can potentially rack up many organic links to inside pages. But in adult where either text content is thin or we write sales text camouflaged as legit blog post, there's really not much worth linking to. We can run linktrades all week long to compensate, but will that help our sites rank any higher? That's why mainstream bloggers work on publishing either linkbait or linkworthy posts. Some people tell me it won't work in adult; I decided to give it a try.

Since I see useless linking to me in this thread, I'm guess it does generate at least one natural link.

Oh, I don't mind you flaming anyone from this board, as long as it isn't me or persons close to me. I'm a full supporter of free speech until it crosses over to that area involving my name or anything to do with me. I'm the only one who gets to say what's on his mind, damn it!

Plus, you should always use Staff, T1, Jazz, or Traffic Pumps in such statements. (Sort of an inside joke.)

I think it could work in adult but the culture probably is the biggest inhibiting factor. I think, in the mainstream, many of the bloggers spend a lot of time visiting other like blogs looking for idea's for thier next post and it is natural for them to pick up idea's / trackback to the blogs that help add something.

Adult blogging just doesn't do that. It would have been great for all concerned had any number of people taken sides on your posts, started commenting and trackbacking to each other as well as you and spread the news that you were a .... damn what was it I called you again...

I was more interested in starting a conversation between our blogs and building visibility than getting link backs, to tell you the truth. I'm not really concerned with selling to surfers either; once I build up some decent traffic, sales will come. I prefer to see my blog as a labor of love, not a marketting tool.

I realize baiting is tricky. I actually couldn't tell if Walrus was being serious or not until I read this thread But then if we used code words the entire thing would feel fake. What other ways can we get more conversations going between adult blogs?

Useless, I'm nice by nature (at least a "quarter" of me is way too nice). But Howard Stern doesn't get his ratings from being nice, and just see yourself posting "sweetheart" instead of "cocksucker" on this board. I've also gotten at least once case of serious link love from casually complimenting a blog I'm hooked on, so I can't disagree with you either.
